Description

M87 is a subject that doesn't come up very often and with obviously good reasons: in terms of photographic appeal elliptical galaxies do not offer much. This said M87 is a an exception as it has that jet of plasma at near luminal speeds that is so characteristic of the galaxy. The challenge here was trying to image that jet and if you look very close you can see the tiny streak emerging from the galaxy core. Let me say it wasn't easy and spent several days to try and figure out how best to bring it out. I can't say it was unique but pretty rare it was, for amateurs with modest sized instruments anyway.
